MELT DOWN...

Took a walk around the patch this morning, 99% of the snow and ice has gone. This should please Bruce and Sheila our near resident Black Swans who were up on Gibbon's fields with the Mutes. Flushed another two Woodcock whilst searching in vain yet again for a LEO...are there any left on the patch to find ?
Not much else in the 52 (including B&S) species seen apart from my first Golden Plover, Grey Wag, Linnet, Pheasent, Skylark and Greenfinch of 2010. Two flyover goose flocks were 39 Pinkfeet and 30 Greylags (Barnys still on tour at Sandbach).

Out again later on to join Groucho on a wild Bittern chase...someone had claimed/seen?? a 'Bittern' in the reedbed/stream area between Neumann's and Dairy House Meadows...suffice to say not a sausage. I did though add Peregrine, Gadwall and Reed Bunting to the year list
