What a Lark...

We arrive at Birchwood Pool just in time to dip a 1st winter Caspo...bugger! The Seaforth Crew are already installed in the hide and get a phone call to tell them of a WOODLARK!! just seen on the old tip............WHAT..........BLOODYHELL!

We move (the Seaforthers stay to watch gulls??) we arrive, its gone, double bugger!!

From the top of the old tip we get a stunning vista of 10000+ gulls feeding, flying, bathing or just loafing around on the new workings.A small group of us then bird this mass of birds and find the leucistic Herring Gull (again) a juv Iceland Gull and a very probable 1st winter CASPIAN GULL oh yes they do exist (well maybe?).Theres also a good year tick in the shape of a wintering Green Sandpiper.

its the one that looks like a Caspo.

A quick look for the 'Owls' only turns up Moss Sides other speciality Willow Tit.
Back home to check the ID books me thinks.
