OLD PATCH BLOCKER UNBLOCKED...

The view from the southbank of the River Mersey looking towards Fiddlers FPS.

Fed up with the usual fare of counting Green Sandpipers and Blackwits at Haydn's Pool and Dunlins on Neumann's Flash a sojourn down to the old stomping ground was in order.
Settling down on the embankment overlooking the mudbank opposet Fiddlers Ferry Power Station my attention was caught straight away by the sight of my third ever LITTLE EGRET at Moss Side, feeding/wading on the far side of the river of mud.
Having seen my first only last year this obliging ex old patch mega seems to be spreading everywhere and no doubt other local patchers will be adding Little Egret to their patch lists as well...nice!
and not a Tesco carrier bag in sight (in joke back at Neumann's)
ttfn.

Well bugger me, when were you down - yesterday afternoon? Been good for L'Egrets of late. Had 4 feeding there the other day and 5 have been reported roosting on Lapwing Lake with the Cormorants. Won't be long before they breed her I reckon :D

Yes I know mate, the three you had earlier were at Neumann's the day before.
The one I had I'm sure was ringed, metal on left peg and yellow on the right peg. Would be interesting to see where it came from what?
ps hows your year list doing?

Interesting! I had noticed that there seemed to be a single 'resident' L.Egret and a trio of others but had no idea that they'd ranged so widely. Can't say I noticed any rings, so I'm wondering if the bird you saw is the Moore 5th, so to speak. Will check when next down. As far as year list goes, I'm lagging behind you. Last time I checked you were on 129 I think. I'm on 127after the Graganey, so now hopeful of a 130 or more...
