ANDERTON NATURE PARK

Continuing with the insect theme I tried my hand at id'ing some of the specialities on show at the dragonfly pond at Anderton NP. Theres a very helpful info board that says the waters far too salty for fish so its great for breeding odonata. Well the salt must have gone cos the pond was loaded with fish...Chub i think? but still there was some action.

COMMON BLUE DAMSELFLY male

EMPEROR DRAGONFLY male

COMMON DARTER female (I think thats right)

FOUR-SPOTTED CHASER female

BLUE-TAILED DAMSELFLY male

The above certainly give one a challenge identification wise and getting a decent piccy which obviously helps with the id as you can pick up segment detail etc.
