BIG FINCH BONANZA...

2009 starts with a bang. The Murphs Tony and Enid are out early patch bashing and eagle-eyed Enid finds a stonkin HAWFINCH!!!! a serious patch blocker for one and all.

I text the local patch group but it seemed most were suffering from last nights celebrations as only Mark T , Johno and Andrew D paid hommage. Debs and I then joined the throng in Bittern hide and after half an hour I'd seen/heard Bittern, Lesser Spot, Kingfisher and Water Rail what a mornings birding. If the rest of the year keeps to this pace it could be a good one....fingers crossed.
