GULLTASTIC AT RICHMOND...

A call from Jono had me dashing down to Moss Side and at last I managed (after a serious Ray Charles moment) to get onto the adult RING BILLED GULL found this morning on Richmond Bank, River Mersey, Moss Side. Just behind the RB was a very small Glaucous Gull that we initially called as Iceland. Embarrassingly later on I claimed the Ring Billed after everything had flown and resettled for a passing Grey Heron..it was a Common Gull.....bummer! time to get the big gull guide out again. I even took several piccies which luckily are so blurred the gull could be anything. Doc was also there (he's definately not yearlisting!!!) and confirmed my attempted string...whoops! as for trying to see a Yellow-legged forget it. Various Herrings had mud covered feet and bills there could easily be a hidden Audascious out there.

Nooooooooooo!!! ;) I called the ID as Common Gull due to me being able to actually see thru my scope. Pod was looking through a hazy, murky misty scope and I'm amazed that he could see anything, never mind ID it!!!
