A FINCH TOO FAR...

A Saturday morning lie in is interrupted by a phone call...must be something on the patch...not! its Keele's finest twitcher and caravanner Mr Sutton. ''you know about the HOUSE FINCH in Cornwall Pete?''....what the feck!!! I check the pager, nothin doing so I start a thread on Birdforum just for the hell of it. MEGA ALERT!!! goes off minutes later......time for action me thinks so I take the dog for a walk and phone the Casuals. An hour later Big Al, Malc, Groucho and Pod are heading south west rapidly in the Ellesmere Port hot hatch.............we arrive five hours later and join the gathered throng at the driveway to Swingates House below...
Staffordshire's answer to Cheshire mega lister Bonser tries a bit of pishing, bloody students. After an uneventful two hour wait in near Arctic weather we gain access to Cornwalls answer to Woolston Eyes and whap theres the boy feeding on the well seeded lawn...a WesternPal first.
Fish and chips at Hayle then home. The Birdforum thread now on page 9...love it!
